VERONA
The Arena of Verona (the city of Romeo and Juliet) is a Roman amphitheatre in Verona, Italy which is internationally famous for the large-scale opera performances given there. It is one of the best preserved ancient structures of its kind.
The building itself was built in AD 30 on a site which was then beyond the city walls.
Nowadays, four productions are mounted each year between June and August.
Candles are distributed to the audience and lit after sunset around the arena to live the great experience at the Arena of Verona all summer long!
Every year over 500,000 people see spectacular productions of the popular operas in this arena. Once capable of housing 30,000 patrons per performance (now limited to 15,000 because of safety reasons), the arena has featured many of world's most notable opera singers. In the post-World War Two era, they have included included Giuseppe Di Stefano, Maria Callas, Tito Gobbi and Renata Tebaldi among other celebrated names. A number of famous conductors have appeared there, too. The official arena shop has historical recordings made by some of them available for sale.
In recent times, the Verona Arena has also housed concerts of popular music bands such as The Who, Pink Floyd, Ennio Morricone, Kiss, Simply Red, Simple Minds, Anastasia, Pearl Jam, Muse, Elton John, Tina Turner and Björk.

Hotel : Villa del Quar
5km from Verona, between sweet, rolling hills and the vineyards of Valpolicella lies Villa del Quar, an elegant patricians residence and national monument. Hotel Villa del Quar has 12 double rooms, 10 Suites and 3 Junior Suites. All rooms are furnished with original antique furniture, mainly in Empire style. The walls are clad in gold-coloured brocade or typical venetian line decors. At ground level all floors are made in "seminato alla Veneziana" while on the levels floors dominate wooden floors and oriental carpets. The interior design is completed by printings, mirrors and paintings. Some suites have double bathrooms, while some of the ground floor rooms have a private garden. All rooms have air conditioning, internet, mini-bar, safe, Tv and telephone.
