Sheikh Mohammed Centre: "Open doors, open minds"
Sheikh Mohammed, a Center for Cultural Understanding, was established to break down barriers between people of different nationalities and to help understand traditions, culture and religion of the United Arab Emirates.
To this end, one of the activities of the Centre is to open the Jumeirah Mosque to people of different nationalities; they organize visits four times a week. Guests of the mosque are entering by a small conference on the themes of the United Arab Emirates culture and religion. Then, about Islam, they hold debates between the public and the operators of Sheikh Mohammed Centre.
Other activities include courses of "Arabic spoken language", courses of "approach to the Arab and Dubai culture", cultural tours, debates, reading circles for children.

The Centre is located in a traditional house, located in the renovated area of Bastakiya, the oldest residential area of Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed, Centre for Cultural Understanding, also offers a wide range of services for staff training. In fact, many workers in Arab Emirates are people come from abroad. Offering these courses, they try to bring together different cultures and promoting mutual understanding and acceptance.
Despite the luxury and the glamour, in Dubai there is still a feeling of religious devotion that pervades much of its Muslim population, as it clearly emerge from a visit to the Jumeirah Mosque. The Jumeirah Mosque is one of the few places where visitors can get closer to Islam and discover the true face of the national religion of the Arab Emirates. Jumeirah Mosque is also the only mosque in Dubai, which opens its doors to non-Muslims.
The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding organizes tours of Jumeirah Mosque in its policy "Opening doors, opening minds", to create a dialogue between the different nationalities. It is a real case: it is allowed to take pictures in the interior, so it is worth to carry a camera. The tour, which is at the same time informative and tourist, lasts an hour and a half, with a final time for questions.
Everything takes place under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who emphasized that: "This is a program… unique and creative that brings citizens, not only to our culture, but also to others as human beings.
